Carhenge
Sure you have heard of Stonehenge, but you probably haven’t heard of the American phenomenon, Carhenge. This monument can be found in the town of Alliance in the state of Nebraska. Based on its ancient predecessor, Carhenge is a circle of junked cars that have been painted gray and most of those travelers that pass by can’t help but pull over to try and make heads or tales of what they are seeing. Carhenge was erected in the year 1987 and it is said that at least 80,000 people visit the site each year.
Club Ebony
If you find yourself in the vicinity of Indianola, Mississippi and consider Jazz a religion, be sure you make a pit stop at Club Ebony. You can tell Club Ebony from the rest of the pack with its clapboards faded green along with a barbecue pit on the roadside that has seen better days. On the site there is a marker that states the club has been in operation since the year 1945. Notable performers that have visited this nondescript yet infamous juke are David Lee Durham, B.B. King a son and native to the area as well as the Great Ray Charles.
